Mens 4th XI vs Fareham 5

A chilly Saturday morning greeted Trojans 4's as we played out our final preseason fixture. A minutes silence was held in honour of her majesty and was observed impeccably.

The game began with Trojans in control and following some great passing a foot in the Fareham circle gifted the home side with a chance to open the scoring.

The short corner routine fired perfectly with Ryan Dymond-Link flicking the ball high beyond the Fareham keeper and into the top left hand corner.

Despite almost constant Trojans pressure, the remainder of the first half past with no further additions to the scoreline. The only incident of note coming when Ryan Dymond-Link threw the tantrum that would land him DOD.

Following a disagreement with one of the Fareham players, Ryan fired the ball low and directly at the Fareham player. Thankfully the incident passed with no injury and the first half drew to a close.

Trojans came out the blocks firing in the second half and their early pressure was rewarded with another short corner opportunity. Despite a poor injection, the home side remained composed, recovered the ball and made some great passes. The resulting ball movement gifted Simon Watson with all the time he needed to steady himself and fire low beyond the Fareham keeper.

The games champagne moment came when Trojans keeper, Ethan Chapman-sheath, made a superb triple save, denying the Fareham attacker a certain goal and maintaining his shutout bid.

The final goal of the game went to the home side. Excellent work from James Gibson earned trojans a free hit in an advanced position. The free hit was taken quickly, catching out the Fareham defence and allowed Ryan Dymond-Link to turn and fire a low reverse in the opposite corner.

The remainder of the game passed without incident, confirming an excellent 3-0 win and a great clean sheet for man of the match Ethan Chapman-sheath.

With preseason over, attention turns to the opening league fixture against Chichester.
